On Saturday, May 21st, Avenidas Rainbow Collective held its second annual, but first in-person, Honor LGBTQ Elders Day celebration. We had a fantastic time socializing and getting to know each other over some good food and fizzy drinks in the LGBTQ Community Café.
Afterwards we continued the celebration in the Avenidas Lounge and played some games and handed out some cool prizes. We also took some time to say a few words about our community, LGBTQ Elders and our Avenidas Rainbow Program.
Saving the best for last, we honored one of our Avenidas Rainbow Collective members, Robert “Bob” Fisk. Bob has attended more groups, meet-ups, and events than any other member. He also is ready to help whenever needed. He walked 1 hour to get to our event this weekend. He has guided our annual tours at Filoli for two years in a row. Bob is amazing.
To show our appreciation, we presented Bob with a beautiful frame with pictures to remind him always that he is loved, that he has friends, and that he is part of the Rainbow Collective Family.
Avenidas Rainbow Collective is proud to be serving the LGBTQ Older Adult community and we hope that if you are an LGBTQ Older Adult or Ally that you may consider joining our family. Check out our upcoming events online or email LGBTQ@Avenidas.org for more information on how you can be part of the Avenidas Rainbow Collective.
