Do You Know a Great LGBTQ+ Ally? Nominate Them for an Award

December 31, 2020

Please help Avenidas Rainbow Collective (ARC) recognize a local business, organization, or agency that you believe has demonstrated their support for the LGBTQ+ Community.

Equality and equity for the LGBTQ+ community are not possible without support from the greater community. Business, organizations, and agencies should be recognized for what they have done and appreciated for their efforts in expanding inclusive and affirming spaces for members of the LGBTQ+ community in society.

How It Works

Fill out our nomination form on SurveyMonkey, which asks the following questions about your nominee:

  • Which local business, organization, or agency do you think have proven to be a strong Ally for the LGBTQ+ Community?
  • What is the contact info for your nomination? (ie, contact person, phone, email)
  • What is it that your nomination has done to make you believe that they are a strong ally to the LGBTQ+ Community?

Thank you for your nomination. We hope to see you at our Ally Appreciation Day event on Tuesday, January 12th, at 2 pm.

Note: this form is only for nominating ally organizations. It will not register you for the event. To attend the Ally Appreciation Day event, visit our event page.

LGBTQ Ally Appreciation Day

December 31, 2020

Avenidas Rainbow Collective (ARC) realizes that members of the LGBTQ community, and the community, truly benefit from the support of individual and professional allies in our local environments.

Without this support, members of the LGBTQ+ community would not be able to marry, have a family, enjoy job security, or feel accepted and valued both within their homes and outside in the community. Allies are an essential part of achieving total equality and inclusion in our society.

For those reasons ARC invites you to recognize and show appreciation for the support that these allies have shown for the LGBTQ+ community on January 12th.

Nominate an Ally

Take this opportunity to recognize your personal ally and allow us to send them an award of appreciation from Avenidas Rainbow Collective and you. Fill out the LGBTQ Community Ally Award Nomination form on SurveyMonkey.

How to Attend

Registration is required. Click the button below to register online via SurveyMonkey. Registered participants will receive Zoom meeting information via email.

Addiction Resources for the Transgender Community from Sunshine Behavioral Health

December 31, 2020

Sunshine Behavioral Health operates four rehab centers: two in Orange County, one in Colorado, and one in Texas. They reached out to Avenidas to ask us to include their online resources on our website. They have published a number of guides and infographics about how addiction affects different communities.

They asked us to highlight How Addiction Affects the Transgender Community, but there are several other guides that may be relevant to Avenidas members:

  • Knowing More About Elderly Drug and Alcohol Use
  • Reaching Out to LGBT Addicts
  • LGBTQ Addiction Treatment Resources
  • Mental Health Issues Facing the Black Community
