Generations Lab exists to empower older adults with technology in the following ways.
Explore, Educate, & Embrace
Add on to our traditional courses (the Avenidas Computer Learning Center has been in operation for 20+ years) and provide an enhanced curriculum that may include career skills re-training to allow for re-entry to the workplace. In addition, we will hold series of tech talks and tech fairs to further engage in the community and surrounding development companies.
Engage, Prototype, & Test
Build a state-of-the-art demo room allowing for our participants to touch, feel, and try out the newest advancements already on the market: smart homes, voice, tablets, wearables. Makers will be able to see how their products work in real-life with an active, older adult population.
Shape & Influence
Interact with Software Developers and Makers to influence early stage products to allow for their product to be most useful for a growing population.
Design & Build the Avenidas Virtual Community Center
Develop a platform for a virtual older adult community center, built on the Avenidas brand providing a platform that will provide older adults services that are trusted, vetted and trained, regardless of their physical location.
Facebook Data Controversy: what does it mean to you?
Facebook has been in the news. Learn what it means to you, how it impacts you, and what can you do about it.
The Avenidas Curiosity Club
Build Products that Older Adults will Test, Use, and Buy!
The Curiosty Club will identify, try, review, and evaluate products to ease the challenges that come with growing older. The Curiosity Club leverage the insights and years of accumulated wisdom of older adults to accelerate the emergence of novel technology solutions.
Join the Curiosity Club
The Avenidas Curiosity Club is a group of individuals interested in exploring product solutions that work best for older adults. No prerequisites required, just a curiosity and willingness to join in discussions.
