Press Release: Community Assessment Survey for Older Adults

September 2, 2022

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Contact: Kari Martell
Avenidas Vice President of Marketing & Communications

Non-Profit Senior Services Agency Avenidas Surveying Mid-Peninsula Residents for Insight into their Needs

(September 2, 2022, Palo Alto, CA) Avenidas is pleased to announce that they are conducting a comprehensive Community Assessment Survey for Older Adults. Postcards inviting residents of Atherton, East Palo Alto, Los Altos, Los Altos Hills, Menlo Park, Mountain View, Palo Alto, Portola Valley, and Stanford to take the survey were sent to over 12,000 people chosen randomly.

Those residents received a written survey a week later as a follow-up. Then, on September 2, 2022, all residents 60+ will be able to complete the survey by visiting Avenidas’ website at www.avenidas.org.

The survey will be in English, Traditional Chinese, Spanish, Vietnamese, Arabic, and Korean.

“We’re very excited to be conducting this survey because not only will the information help us at Avenidas, but we will also share our findings with the city of Palo Alto’s staff and Council to identify priorities and improve the quality of life of older adults in our community.”

Kari Martell, Vice President of Marketing & Communications and Spokesperson for Avenidas

For the past few weeks, Avenidas has been working with independent consultant, Polco, to develop a survey called the Community Assessment Survey for Older Adults™ (CASOA). This survey will allow Avenidas to compare results and benchmark residents’ opinions against other communities across the country. The survey will include questions about quality of life, important characteristics of the community, services provided by Avenidas and priorities for the future.
