Adult day programs and adult day health programs provide care and companionship in a safe, caring and stimulating environment. They are a resource for those with physical limitations who need additional assistance and for those with limited functioning due to memory loss.

The Wise Owl Players is an acting troupe comprised of adults 50 and over who perform dramatized staged readings. The Palo Alto-based nonprofit Avenidas sponsors the program, which offers drama classes for older adults – including storytelling and creative writing – taught by Davis.

Attendees at the center on Thursday, May 30, had the opportunity to meet and greet our PAHS Therapy Paws canine teams! Our dog volunteers were up to the task of cuddling with the participating seniors and showing how much they appreciated all the extra attention.

COME GET A TASTE of the special Avenidas Village programming that members enjoy monthly. At 11:30 a.m. on May 31, Avenidas will present a Vista lecture called “African Carnivores and their Prey,” with Doug Cheeseman.

AVENIDAS CARE FORUM. For families caring for loved ones, getting information and support is important, which is why Avenidas is offering a new workshop series. Following each lecture, attendees may take part in small group discussions and have the chance to receive gifts and wellness services donated by event sponsors. Coffee and lunch will be provided.
