Queer Silicon Valley launched on September 30th. Showcasing the rich LGBTQ+ history of Santa Clara County, this digital exhibition and history project is presented by the BAYMEC Community Foundation and made possible with a grant from the County of Santa Clara (which also supports the Avenidas Rainbow Collective).
Queer Silicon Valley features archival documents, personal narratives, rare photographs, exclusive interviews, videos, and robust interactive timelines around topics including HIV/AIDS, Culture & Community, Politics & Activism, and more.
The project is a perfect way for communities to celebrate LGBTQ History Month by exploring our own vibrant local stories from decades past to present-day history in the making.
Pulling from archives dating back to 1975, Queer Silicon Valley travels up to 2020 and soon beyond as the project will continue to update its stories and materials – you are also invited to provide your additions and comments directly through the site.
