Many different Avenidas staff members, including our CEO, our Marketing department, and even some of our accounting folks have been making birthday calls to members to help ease the loneliness that sheltering in place can cause.
While we were able to celebrate with Avenidas Village member Bill Corcoran in person several years ago when he turned 100 and we were operating out of Cubberley Community Center, this year we’re celebrating his 102nd birthday on the phone.

Bill is a rocket scientist (jet propulsion) who just made it off the USS Indianapolis before it was sunk. He is still active and only started using a wheelchair at 100 years old. Bill now participates in the Avenidas writing group, where he especially enjoys writing sonnets.
