Understanding Your Swallowing
June 12 , 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm PDT
Presented by: Theresa Yao, MEd, MS, CCC-SLP, Stanford University
June is National Dysphagia Awareness Month. Swallowing difficulties (dysphagia) affect people of all ages, impacting 4% of American adults annually. If you or someone you know coughs frequently while eating or drinking, dysphagia might be a concern. Curious about how your throat works during swallowing and why some individuals are at higher risk?
Join us for an informative workshop that helps you understand the swallowing process and learn more about the signs and symptoms of dysphagia.
Following the talk, you can opt for a voluntary swallowing screening session, where you will have the opportunity to learn more about your own swallowing function through questionnaires and a few speech/swallowing tasks.
