Presenter: Dr. Lawrence Basso
Our brains are complex and amazing organs. In this seminar, Dr. Basso will make the science and biology understandable for everyone. Topics covered will include:
- Cognitive function and memory
- Electrical activity and coordination of function in the brain
- The concept of the neural network
- Modular function in the brain
- What can go wrong: Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases.
About the Presenter
Lawrence V. Basso graduated from UCSF Medical School. He is certified in the specialties of Endocrinology and Nuclear Medicine and was an attending physician in both Internal Medicine and Nuclear Medicine at Stanford School of Medicine as well as Chief of Nuclear Medicine at the Palo Alto Medical Foundation. He has taught at Stanford, Notre Dame de Namur University and the UC extension in Belmont. He has published over 30 papers and is the co-author of a textbook on immunoassay.
