Silicon Valley Speakers Series: Cybersecurity

As consumers of online banking products, we can be assured that information professionals have improved security tools and processes in the last few decades. We also have a responsibility to protect our own assets and identity. This session is to discuss cybersecurity best practices.
About the Speaker
Chris Garigliano has worked in banking technology for twenty years, at Providian, WaMu, Chase, and Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco. Originally from Long Island NY, he has a BA from Cornell and Masters from Carnegie Mellon. When not in a server room or in front of a screen, he’ll be on a tennis court or ski slope, or singing in a chorus.

Today, technology is intertwined with personal finance – everything from how you bank, pay for things, manage money, get a loan, or invest money. Although this is not new, the pandemic has expedited the use of technology in our daily routines of managing our personal finances. Online banking, online shopping, and other online transactions grew during the last 20 months. The use of technology will persist beyond the pandemic.
What are the basics of technology used in personal finance? In this speaker series, we are inviting guest speakers from the banking and/or technology industry to provide a behind-the-scenes look at the technology and processes involved with online banking and payments. It intends to open the eyes of the curious minds, and connect common technology terms to our day-to-day activities, such as managing passwords, multi-factor authentication, encryption, and more.
