She obtained her MSW in 1980 from the School of Social Services at the Catholic University in Washington, DC, and has worked full time as a medical and geriatric social work in teaching university hospitals and outpatient clinics. She relocated to Palo Alto in 2008 to care for her aging mother.

Marina Martin, MD
Dr. Marina Martin graduated from UCLA School of Medicine, and completed Stanford Internal Medicine Residency, a Masters in Public Health at UC Berkeley, and fellowships with Stanford Geriatric Medicine and the Stanford Prevention Research Center before joining the Stanford faculty in 2011. She served as the first Section Chief of Stanford’s section of Geriatric Medicine, which was formed in 2015. In this role, she oversaw clinical, educational, and health services research programs that promoted optimal, compassionate, personalized care of older adults, especially those with frailty, dementia, or very advanced age. In early 2023 she handed off the reins to her wonderful geriatrician colleagues and left Stanford to recharge her batteries, spend more time with family and friends, and explore what might be her next calling in medicine.
